The Oath
By Terra Earth, with all Creation and Humanity as my witness, I swear to fulfill to the the best of my ability and dedicate my life to this Oath and Covenant which is sealed between me and all that lives:
I will reverence my mother Organism, Terra, as I do Humanity, and I shall not desire or attempt any power or action over them that would cause them harm. I will uphold the utmost respect for life from its beginning.
Let no non-infectious animal, plant, or fungus come to harm through my hand. I will neither hurt nor kill any living thing, unless it be necessary for my survival. If I encounter any organism in need of aid, I shall do my best to relieve it of its pain. I will also let no human hurt or kill any organism for any reason except for survival, and if I encounter such a person, I will do my best to prevent harm to the organism.
I will not endorse any person, organization, or other entity that supports or encourages the harm and/or death of organisms of any kind, whether through money, activism, or other means. I will not support in any way any cause that promotes the injury or death of organisms, including but not limited to war, violence, hunting for sport, abortion, euthanasia, deforestation, assisted suicide, pollution, poaching, exotic animal trade, poor treatment of free and bond animals, and more. I will support entities and efforts that encourage the protection and salvation of living organisms.
For medical doctors:
I swear to uphold the Oath above, as well as to uphold the Hippocratic Oath as first declared by Hippocrates:
"I will observe and keep this underwritten oath, to the utmost of my power and judgment. I will reverence my master who taught me the art. Equally with my parents, will I allow him things necessary for his support, and will consider his sons as brothers. I will teach them my art without reward or agreement; and I will impart all my acquirement, instructions, and whatever I know, to my master's children, as to my own; and likewise to all my pupils, who shall bind and tie themselves by a professional oath, but to none else. With regard to healing the sick, I will devise and order for them the best diet, according to my judgment and means; and I will take care that they suffer no hurt or damage. Nor shall any man's entreaty prevail upon me to administer poison to anyone; neither will I counsel any man to do so. Moreover, I will give no sort of medicine to any pregnant woman, with a view to destroy the child. Further, I will comport myself and use my knowledge in a godly manner. I will not cut for the stone, but will commit that affair entirely to the surgeons [unless I am a surgeon; then I shall do the least harm required to heal my patients' ills]. Whatsoever house I may enter, my visit shall be for the convenience and advantage of the patient; and I will willingly refrain from doing any injury or wrong from falsehood, and (in an especial manner) from acts of an amorous nature, whatever may be the rank of those who it may be my duty to cure, whether mistress or servant, bond or free. Whatever, in the course of my practice, I may see or hear (even when not invited), whatever I may happen to obtain knowledge of, if it be not proper to repeat it, I will keep sacred and secret within my own breast. If I faithfully observe this oath, may I thrive and prosper in my fortune and profession, and live in the estimation of posterity; or on breach thereof, may the reverse be my fate!"
For nurses and other medical and emergency rescue workers involved directly with the care of patients:
I swear to uphold this Oath, as well as to dedicate every second of my interactions with patients to the goal of returning them to the best possible condition to the natural condition of the human organism. I will do no harm, with death and chronic disability/disease/pain the ultimate harms to avoid at all costs. I will treat my patients with care and respect and uphold those parts of the Hippocratic Oath (above) that apply to my line of work.
For police officers:
I swear to uphold this Oath as best as possible for the survival of my community. For every case, I will attempt first every strategy not involving injury, violence, or death, but if all else fails and I must choose to harm a person or let a person harm my community, I will put first the safety of my community.
For instructors, teachers, and parents:
I swear to uphold this Oath, as well as raise my children to uphold this Oath if I am a parent or to educate my students on the sanctity of life and encourage them to uphold this Oath if I am teacher/instructor. I will not encourage any behavior that harms another living organism, nor will I impart knowledge of such skills.
This is the Oath to which I dedicate my life. If I faithfully observe this Oath, may I thrive and prosper along with my fellow organisms. If I breach this Oath, may my fate be the same as the suffering!
